History

Allow us to introduce ourselves:

Simple Distribution

3PL and 3PL Consulting Company with a 17 Year history of success.

Some of you may already be familiar with us as the East coast distributor for the largest seller of clear packaging in the United States. For 17-years, we have established a proven track record of success in shipping between $1.5 million and $2 million a month of a product line consisting of about thousands of SKUs. We ship all over the United States, and internationally with an accuracy rate of 99.5% and maintain a (4.8/5 Star) Trustpilot 

customer approval rating for our clients. 

Crisis

After many years of uninterrupted success, we encountered a crisis which could have cost us our business. The details in brief: we received three times the expected amount of product within a single year, with no modification to our existing storage capacity. Due to Covid-19 supply chain issues we were unable to receive our shipments at normal intervals, resulting in massive amounts of stock arriving at the same time. 

As a result, we lost our ability to function efficiently as a warehouse. We still managed to pull, pack, ship, and bill our orders in a timely manner; the customer experience was not affected, however, we could no longer receive new shipments nor properly store the ones we had previously received. EVERY aisle and inch of floor space was crammed with inbound shipments we could not process. Moreover, we were in danger of losing control of our inventory which could have resulted in the crippling of and eventual loss of our business.

Solution

Recognizing that there were no half-measures, quick-fixes, system adjustments, or special techniques that would solve our problem, we took decisive action by completely remodeling our warehouse with our in-house crew. In six short months, we restored warehouse functionality by restructuring the physical plant layout and racking systems as well as our established operational procedures, resulting in:

  • Reducing our labor costs by 25%.

  • Tripling our storage capacity.

  • Dramatically increasing efficiency.

  • Creating operating systems that better fit our needs.

  • Regaining full control of our inventory.

  • Changing our company culture by establishing and maintaining fundamental core values.

  • A projected $300k turn around in profits compared with the previous year.

    As a result, we executed our most operationally-efficient season on record, positioning us to exceed all previous year-over-year profits. We turned what would have been an unmitigated disaster into an opportunity for continued growth and a new future. 

What We Learned

In our most challenging year we went on to find our purpose and clearly define our core values. We realized logistics solutions were not complex and what works is a straightforward and direct approach. We aim to be a breath of fresh air for anyone in this industry who is tired of buzzwords and trendy expensive solutions.

No technique can replace reality. Like it or not, if too many of the small things are wrong, the operation, like a house full of termites, will be compromised and eventually fail. A disciplined and consistent approach to "Making Everything Right." will assure the overall integrity of your warehousing.

We are grounded in a fundamental truth: there are no big things, just many small things. The way to make the ‘big’ things right is to make the ‘small’ things right first.
